INTRODUCTION

"Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved, and to be steady on all the battlefield besides, is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point."

Martin Luther

"The Communists have always proceeded on the age-old theory that the most important accomplishment in all forms of warfare is to paralyze your enemy's will to resist before coming to actual hostilities. There is no surer nor more deadly form of paralysis to inflict on their enemies than religious neutralism. This is most convincingly indicated by the fact that at least two million Christians today, in the United States alone, have swallowed all or some of the British-Israel line for Protestants, or of the parallel line which is a more recent development among Catholics.

"These are the very people who should be most faithful and determined in their resistance to Communism. Instead they have been almost completely neutralized by a now gigantic scheme which the Communists themselves have been skillfully promoting for over a hundred years."

When Mr. Robert Welch penned those words for The John Birch Society Bulletin for April, 1972, I already had the assignment in addition to my other Major Coordinator duties for The Society to write an essay tactfully exposing this gigantic scheme of which Mr. Welch spoke. Subsequently, "THE WILL AND WAY TO WIN", both in cassette recording and booklet form was made available, but the attrition rate continued to worsen.

Now Bob Pierce's book has appeared, independently of The John Birch Society, with sufficient potential to immunize all those who have not yet caught the "prayer only" or "end-of-time" virus — but only if it's read and digested. What's in store for you, Dear Reader, is strong meat and unfamiliar fare. The recipe has been with us as Mr. Welch indicates for over a hundred years. Now you can see what this dish of conspiratorial pudding looks like. The proof is in the tasting.
